Chambers celebrates sixty five years

At a well-attended dinner held at the West Wing, Ickworth House on Saturday 21st April 2012 members, former members and staff at East Anglian Chambers celebrated sixty five years' provision of local access to barristers' services across the region.

Originally founded in Colchester in 1947 by Gerald Hines (later HH Judge Hines QC), after years spent consolidating its presence before the courts at Chelmsford, Colchester, Southend, Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds the chambers expanded by establishing a local base in Norfolk in the early 1970s and in Suffolk some ten years later.  It has a current membership of over 60.

Commenting upon the current and impending reductions in the provision of publicly-funded legal services and on their overall impact upon the operation of the courts generally, current head of chambers Graham Sinclair expressed his heartfelt thanks to staff and members for their continuing support and assistance throughout the recent restructuring of chambers' administration in preparation for these future challenges.
