Marcus enjoys a mixed practice of civil and crime. He provides a cost effective quality service to all clients to provide the best solutions available for their particular problem. Marcus receives instructions either through solicitors or directly from lay clients through the public access scheme for all types of work.
General Civil and Commercial Litigation Whether you need advice or representation, Marcus accepts instructions in a broad range of civil disputes that effect both businesses and individuals. He has experience in debt recovery and consumer credit act litigation. Furthermore, he regularly undertakes cases involving contractual disputes, negligence and insolvency. He is happy to provide advice in writing or if you prefer, a personal face-to-face meeting.
In personal injury matters, road traffic accidents and credit hire claims, he regularly drafts statements of case and opinions on behalf of Claimants and Defendants, as well as appearing at every level from small claims to the multi-track. Costs and Detailed AssessmentMarcus regularly attends the Senior Courts Costs Office at the Royal Courts of Justice on complex and high value detailed assessment of costs. Furthermore, he has acted for parties across the country in costs disputes arising from litigation. In particular, he has advised and represented clients in some of the first contested hearings regarding the MOJ RTA Personal Injury Portal - an area of expanding litigation post 1 April 2013 with the widening of its scope. He can provide cogent and straightforward advice on the new CPR regime including budgeting, costs capping and costs management.
Housing and Property Disputes Marcus accepts instructions in a variety of landlord and tenant disputes. He has developed a particular specialism in social housing cases providing both written advice and/or representation in disrepair and possession claims including anti-social behaviour on behalf of local authorities, registered providers and charities. His tenant work has seen him undertake the above plus pursuing unlawful eviction and homelessness claims. He is experienced with assisting clients that wish to bring/challenge claims for adverse possession before the HM Land Registry Tribunal.
Criminal He appears in the Crown Court and Magistrates' Courts across East Anglia and London acting in cases involving all types of criminal offence. He also continues to gain more experience in proceedings under POCA 2002 both on conviction and under the provisions that allow for civil recovery. Furthermore Marcus undertakes defence Courts Martial both in the UK and abroad.

Interests
Marcus has particular interests in sailing, skiing and travel. He is a regular crew member of the yacht 'Fatjax' and races off the east coast of Britain throughout the year. The team has had a 'running streak' for the past three years coming 1st in its class at the international Cowes Week Regatta in 2010 and 2011. In addition, the team were the overall winners of the 2011 Slam X-Yacht's Regatta , 3rd in class at the IRC Nationals and gained the coverted position of cover photograph in the September edition of the international magazine, 'Yachting World.' After being invited to compete in the Brewers Dolphin Commodore's Cup in the British team, the crew plan to build on its progress with a view to competing in the Cup in 2014 and just before that, the world famous Rolex Fastnet Race. Off the water, Marcus enjoys travelling across the globe combining it with his passion for alpine sports.
