As an officer on the reserve list Matthew was asked by the Army to rejoin for 12 months as a full-time reservist. He is currently on active service and therefore unavailable for work. We wish him well and hope to see him return safely to practice in November 2012.
Matthew graduated in Mathematics and Computer Science from Royal Holloway, University of London. He also holds a MA in Defence Studies from King’s College, University of London and a postgraduate diploma from Cranfield University’s School of Military Science and Management.
Matthew spent eighteen years in the army, serving in the UK, Germany, Canada, Bosnia and Afghanistan, before being called to the Bar by Gray’s Inn in 2006. He completed a criminal pupillage in the Temple before moving to East Anglian Chambers for a ‘third six’ and then being invited to become a member.
Matthew prosecutes and defends in magistrates’ and Crown Courts across East Anglia. He is also interested in health & safety and road traffic work. Putting his army background to good use, it is hardly surprising that in its latest edition Legal 500 comments on his "notable court martial practice".
