After completing her pupillage at Trinity Chambers Gemma joined East Anglian Chambers for a third six pupillage in October 2009, followed quickly by an offer of full membership of chambers that same December.

 

Gemma was called to the Bar in 2007, having being awarded the Hardwicke Entrance Award by Lincoln’s Inn. Upon securing pupillage the Inn also awarded her the Cholmeley Studentship Scholarship.

 

Prior to undertaking pupillage Gemma worked as a Family Law tutor at the University of Sheffield after being invited back to teach by the lecturer who taught her when she was a student. During this time  she edited the 5th edition of the Routledge-Cavendish Family Law Cards. Gemma also spent a year in the city working as a paralegal at The Khan Partnership, where she had her own caseload.

 

Gemma prides herself on her down to earth and personable approach whilst maintaining the utmost professionalism.

 

She accepts instructions in family and civil work.

Interests

When Gemma is not in Court she likes nothing more than mucking in on her parents’ farm in Derbyshire where her family breed, keep and race National Hunt race horses. Gemma gets involved in every aspect of the horses’ care and enjoys a day at the races – especially if her horses are running!
