Justina Brightman LL B (Dunelm)
Justina read Law at Durham University and then completed the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law, London. Upon call to the Bar in 2003 she joined Harcourt Chambers (London) in 2004 upon successful completion of her pupillage. She remained at Harcourt Chambers until December 2011, when she joined East Anglian Chambers.
Areas of Practice
- Public Law Children: Justina is regularly instructed in public law care and adoption proceedings. Her practice includes advising and representing local authorities, parents (including teenage parents and parents represented by the Official Solicitor), family members and the children. She has experience in acting in complex cases which have included allegations of drug and alcohol abuse, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, neglect and cases concerning complicated and conflicting medical evidence.
- Private Law Children: Justina is fully versed in the wide variety of children disputes that arise following the breakdown of parents’ relationships. In addition to representing parents she is regularly instructed on behalf of extended family members. She is experienced in acting in intractable disputes, cases in which the children are made parties, and cases which include allegations of sexual and physical abuse, domestic violence, neglect, abduction, mental instability and addiction. She has extensive experience of applications for leave to remove from the jurisdiction and Special Guardianship Orders.
- Family Law Act 1996 Injunction Proceedings: Justina has extensive experience in representing vulnerable parties and parties against whom allegations have been made.
