Albert’s fundraiser for Children with Cancer UK

21 April 2025

Albert – son of East Anglian Chambers’ barrister Shona Harvey – is raising money for Children with Cancer UK and everyone at East Anglian Chambers very much encourages you to support him here.

In November 2024, Albert was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, an aggressive blood cancer which affects the bone marrow, where blood is made, and causes it to make cancer cells instead of blood. The treatment is chemotherapy for over 2 years.

Since diagnosis, Albert has spent a lot of time on the children’s cancer ward at Addenbrooke’s Hospital where he has met and made friends with other children suffering from cancer. Some have leukaemia, like Albert; others have brain tumours or cancer in their spinal cord or lymphatic system. Some have cancer in their muscles or bones. Cancer is the leading cause of death of children in the UK and more children die from cancer than from accidents. Albert would like to raise money to support research which will help children like his friends on the ward and others like them.

Recently, Albert was given the opportunity to be a mascot for Norwich City Football Club and because the Club has such a great community spirit, it led to a wonderful relationship which has made an enormous difference to Albert’s ability to cope with his treatment. That relationship is documented in this short film below (and his middle name is George!)
