DE&I Champion of the Year (Barrister) – Lucy Barnes

After being shortlisted a finalist at the Women and Diversity in Law Awards 2025, we are pleased to announce that Lucy won at the awards ceremony in London on 18th March 2025. The Women and Diversity in Law Awards is the largest annual celebration of women leaders in diversity in the legal profession. 250 legal professionals were shortlisted over 37 categories and judged by a panel of 30 judges. Lucy was recognised in speeches for her work as Co-Founder of Lawyers Who Care and also her broader social mobility advocacy. Lucy says of the award: “Growing up in the care system / neurodivergent / from a council estate is not just something to not be ashamed of, but something to celebrate. This recognition is not just mine – it belongs to Lawyers Who Care and every care-experienced person who has ever been told their background defines their future. It does not.”
