Response to BSB determination regarding a former member of EAC

In response to the BSB decision of 11 February 2025 available here, EAC confirms that in August 2022, Chambers was made aware of conduct by one of its then members, Alan Wheetman, which, if true, would be likely to diminish the trust and confidence which the public placed in him and the profession. Chambers takes any allegations of professional misconduct by its members seriously and immediately suspended Mr Wheetman, notified the Bar Standards Board of the alleged misconduct and launched a detailed investigation. That investigation led to a full disciplinary process against Mr Wheetman which resulted in his expulsion from Chambers in December 2022. Chambers co-operated fully with the BSB’s subsequent investigation.
