Darren Watts

Darren is a very experienced family practitioner, specialising mainly in public law cases.

Darren initially worked as a solicitor-advocate (Higher Rights – Civil Proceedings) for six years, both in independent practice and for Essex County Council, and was a member of the Law Society Children Panel. Transferring to the Bar in 2005, he practised family law from Tanfield Chambers in London before moving to 1 Gray’s Inn Square. He joined East Anglian Chambers in May 2016.

Darren has considerable experience in supporting local authorities in their child protection work but is also able to assist parents and other family members. He is qualified to accept work on a public access basis.

Darren has extensive experience in Deprivation of Liberty Cases acting mostly for the child or the local authority

Darren also spent some time in the Falkland Islands as a member of the RAF and is keen to take instructions for cases in that jurisdiction
