Ewan Baxter

Ewan was called to the Bar in 2024, having been awarded an Exhibition Scholarship by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple and Bar Course by the Inns of Court College of Advocacy.

He maintains a mixed practice, accepting instructions in civil and family law, with a developing emphasis on civil litigation.

Ewan appears regularly in the County Court and Family Court. Prior to pupillage, he undertook a high volume of advocacy, appearing in over 190 County Court hearings across a wide range of applications and trials.

Civil

Ewan has a strong and growing civil practice and is regularly instructed in:

  • Fast track and small claims trials
  • Road traffic accident trials
  • Personal injury matters
  • Contractual disputes
  • Landlord and tenant matters and possessions

Ewan is also developing a paperwork practice and accepts instructions to draft pleadings and provide written advice on liability, quantum, and procedure.

Family Law

Ewan accepts instructions in a range of family matters, including:

  • Private children proceedings
  • Financial remedy proceedings
  • Applications under the Family Law Act 1996

He has a particular interest in developing his practice in in matrimonial finance.

Criminal

Ewan has also been instructed in criminal prosecutions on behalf of local authorities, including Suffolk County Council and Essex County Council.

 

Interests

Outside of practice, Ewan plays football, is a supporter of Ipswich Town and enjoys skiing.
