Sophie was Called to the Bar in 2019 by The Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn. Sophie studied law at the University of Winchester, where she received a First Class law degree, before completing the Bar Professional Training Course at The University of Law, London.
Family:
Sophie is regularly instructed in private law proceedings, representing mothers, fathers and grandparents. She deals with all stages of proceedings including fact-finding hearings and final hearings. Sophie is often instructed in cases involving allegations of domestic abuse, sexual abuse and substance misuse. Sophie also has experience in dealing with non-molestation orders and occupation orders.
Sophie is also often instructed in care proceedings, accepting instructions to represent local authorities, guardians and parents alike. Sophie deals with all stages of proceedings, from emergency ICOs, right up until the final hearings.
Sophie also accepts instructions in financial matters, and has experience dealing with FDAs, FDRs and final hearings.
Civil:
Sophie has experience across a broad range of civil matters, including small claim trials and possession hearings for residential landlords and local authorities. Sophie also accepts instructions in Employment law and Education law.
Crime:
Sophie accepts instructions for local authority prosecutions, such as littering and school non-attendance matters.
Other experience:
Prior to commencing pupillage, Sophie worked as a legal adviser at the Child Law Advice Service, gaining experience and advising on Children Act matters, protective injunctions and Education Law. She also advised parents facing public law proceedings on the duties of Children’s Services. She has also developed her experience by volunteering for Support through Court throughout the BPTC and working as a County Court Advocate.
